Raymond Falkenberry, Sr.
(Faculty), age 87 of Nashville,
March 11, 2011.
He was born to the late Frank and Bettie Gunn Falkenberry of Huntsville, AL.
Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth, the love of his life, and
also by his sister, Dorothy and brother, Michael. Raymond served during WWII
as an Army Staff Sergeant Squad Leader with the replacements to the 106
Infantry in Europe. He was a graduate of George Peabody College in
Nashville, TN and taught in Metro Nashville public schools until his
retirement in 1982. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Donelson
for over 50 years. Raymond was an enthusiastic member of the Middle
Cumberland Archaeological Society. He was also an excellent wood carver and
gardener. He is survived by three children, Beth Wright, Ray (Janice)
Falkenberry, Jr. and Phyllis (Kerry) Dye; three grandchildren, Chris Wright,
Andrea Falkenberry and Jeremy Falkenberry; three brothers, Frank, Gene and
Jimmy; sister-in-law, Billie Atnip; brother-in-law, Herbie Hobbs and
numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Raymond was a
devoted husband, beloved father and a cherished friend to many. The family
will receive friends at Mount Olivet Funeral Home on Saturday, March 12,
2011 from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the Donelson
First Baptist Church on Sunday, March 13th at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Jim Cross
officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. MOUNT OLIVET
